August 1, 2016 Beach Weekend
Hello again!
Sometimes you really need to get away. Does this necessarily mean out of the country? Nope. This amazing Civic Holiday I decided to take a drive up north and spend some time "cottaging" with family & friends. The beach is beautiful and peaceful with lots of people taking advantage of the warm weather. I took FULL advantage of the weather and my families good nature to feed me at every opportunity. I must say it was all AMAZING and yummy...but that type of weekend does has its consequences :( I tanned, went swimming, read my favourite book and listening to music. In addition to all that, I got to know more about my family by asking them questions I never asked them before. It was very interesting to see where they have been and the decisions they have made throughout their lives. Not a lot of people get the opportunity to learn more about their families and I am VERY grateful for this weekend because of that... and of course the food.

If it's one thing I can preach about is just how important self-care is for everyone. Take a look at what you enjoy and what you need from a day to day basis and truly LISTEN to yourself. I love the beach...plain and simple... and Cuba (my favourite beaches) isn't near my reach so I improvised this weekend. Self-care is about what rejuvenates YOU and gives the energy you need to be "on" in other areas in your life. When you think about your own self-care list, think about what feels good to you and try not to add things to your list that you feel you have to FORCE yourself to do or like. This will only drain your energy even more. Some of my self-care examples:
- Take a yoga class
- Physical activity - gym, biking, running, dance party
- Take a painting class
- Reading a good book
- Sporting events
- Attending a festival
- Going for a walk outside in nature
- Go back to school for a subject that really interests you
- Volunteer for a cause that you are passionate about
- Travelling (one of my favourites)
- Take a 10 minute break outside in the sun to get that Vitamin D
- Journaling
- Drinking more water (yes, this one is important)
I hope this helps you build your very own custom self-care list that works for YOU. If you want to chat more about this topic, feel free to contact me and we'll chat.-SG
